How to remove Reverse light switch on 2005 BMW 325?

The details and procedure is as follows :---

Back-Up (Reverse) Light Switch

Removal & Installation

Automatic Transmissions

The back-up light switch is part of the neutral safety switch located inside the gear selector trim cover.

Remove the 3mm hex head fastener from the gear selector knob and remove the knob.

Carefully release the gear selector housing cover from the console.

Remove the neutral safety switch electrical connector by squeezing the retaining clips and detaching the connector.

Remove the neutral safety switch mounting fasteners.

Move the gear selector until the selector's pin aligns with the small slot in the switch and lift the switch upward to remove.

To install:

Align the slot of the switch with the slot of the switch housing.

Move the gear selector as necessary to engage the pin into the slots of the switch.

Install the switch mounting fasteners.

Install the trim covers.

Install the gear selector's release button such that the pin is installed into the hole on the gear selector linkage and install the gear selector knob onto the selector shaft.

Manual Transmissions

Clean the area surrounding the switch on the side of the transmission as necessary.

Disconnect the switch electrical connector at the side of the transmission.

Remove the switch from the transmission by turning it counterclockwise.

Installation is in reverse order of removal.

NOTE

To test the back-up light circuit remove the electrical connector at the switch and install a fused jumper wire between the two electrical terminals, turn the ignition switch to the on position and the back-up lights should operate.

The back-up light switch is attached to the transmission.

Cruise Control on 2005 BMW 325?

Refer this details as follows :---

Cruise Control

The cruise control is electronically activated and controlled using the vehicle's speed sensor as input when the system is activated. The system is activated and controlled by either a right side steering column mounted switch, or by a series of switches on the right side of the steering wheel pad. The steering wheel mounted system has an activation button located at the bottom of the row of the switches which is used to activate and deactivate the system. On these models, when the system is activated, an indicator light in the control panel is illuminated. In addition to the activated/deactivated selections, the cruise control system features switches for acceleration, deceleration and resume.

The system is also deactivated if:

The brake pedal is pressed

If equipped, the clutch pedal is pressed

On automatic transmissions, if shifted from Drive to Neutral

If the vehicle speed is less than the minimum activation speed

The operating parameters of the systems are as follows:

Cruise controls with steering column mounted switches:

Activation speed: 25 mph (40 km/h) or greater

Activate and set speed: Press stalk forward

Accelerate: Press the stalk forward and release increases speed by 0.6 mph (1 km/h)

Accelerate: Press stalk forward and hold pressed, accelerates until released and sets to current speed

Decelerate: Pull the stalk back and release decreases speed by 0.6 mph (1 km/h)

Decelerate: Pull the stalk back and hold, decelerates until released and sets to current speed

Resume: Press stalk end inward toward steering column, resumes speed to last programmed speed

Off: Press stalk up or down

Cruise controls with steering wheel mounted switches:

Activation speed: 20 mph (30 km/h) or greater

Activate: Press l/0 button (lowest button)

Set speed: Press the + button and release sets current speed

Accelerate: Press the + button and release increases speed by 0.6 mph (1 km/h)

Accelerate: Press the + button and hold pressed, accelerates until released and sets to current speed

Decelerate: Press the - button and release decreases speed by 0.6 mph (1 km/h)

Decelerate: Press the - button and hold, decelerates until released and sets to current speed

Resume: Press Speedo icon button (top button), resumes speed to last programmed speed

Off: Press l/0 button (lowest button)
